Cumbuco & Cauipe lagoon, Ceará, Brazil

Cumbuco has incredible kiting conditions. Long sandy beaches and amazing lagoons! 

Level: all levels

 

  • Cauipe Lagoon (Cumbuco): around 6 km from the village center the beach is great for downwinders. Along the way you’ll find shorebreaks and sandbanks with fun waves. Cumbuco is also the perfect starting point for longer downwinds.

  • There’s a wave spot just a couple of km from Cumbuco called "Pico das Almas".

  • Wave spot "Pecem" is 15 km downwind where there can be clean, peeling waves.

  • Best time to go: July – December

 

Tip: Go to one of the many amazing pizza places, truly tastes like in Italy or even better!

Tip: There are a couple of cheap traditional restaurants, so you can get a basic lunch at the spot.

Taiba ocean & lagoon, Ceará, Brazil

  • Downwind from Cumbuco

  • Constant wind lagoon (flat) and ocean (choppy & waves)

  • Amazing pizza

  • Downwind tip: Taiba to Paracuru

  • Best time to go: July – December

Paracuru, Ceará, Brazil

Level: all levels

  • Many restaurant options in town

  • With low tide almost flat water inside the reef and some waves on the reef.

  • There is only one restaurant at the beach for lunch

  • Best time to go: July – December


Water condition: choppy (more flat with low tide), waves on the reef

Guajiru and Flecheiras, Ceará, Brazil

  • Accommodation right at the spot

  • Nice flat stretches in between waves

  • Downwind: Flecheiras to Icaraizinho (long one!!)

  • Best time to go: July – December

Icaraizinho, Ceará, Brazil

  • From bed to board (accommodations right at the spot)

  • There are small but laid-back vibes in town with some cute restaurants

  • It is not for party people, quite a calm village

  • Downwind: Icaraizinho to Ilha do Guajiru

  • Best time to go: July – December

Ilha do Guajiru, Ceará, Brazil

  • Spot is evolving, nice restaurants popping up, good vibe

  • Downwind: Ilha do Guajiru to prea (long one)

  • Best time to go: July – December


Water condition: flat to choppy (lagoon), choppy & waves (ocean)

Tip: Coco Knots for vegan food, Beleza for Tapiocas, Fresh Tuna (daily special), Acai Bowls, Do Mar for a nice dinner, 7 Beaufort for pizza night.

Prea, Ceará, Brazil

  • Advanced spot

  • Downwind: from Prea to Placa

  • Best time to go: July – December


Water condition: choppy, some waves

Tip: Villa Prea for good food and kiting​​

Jericoacoara, Ceará, Brazil

Level: all levels
 

  • For strong wind lovers

  • Unique vibe in this sandy village

  • Lots of restaurant, nightlife, shops and handmade goods

  • Downwind: from Jeri to Guriú

  • Best time to go: July – December


Water condition: flat (Guriu lagoon) to choppy and waves

Tip: Naturalmente (for Acai), Club Ventos (great lunch buffet), Caipi Street for sunset (and some Shrimp skewers from the street stand).

Spot Barra Grande and Macapà, Piauí, Brazil

  • Perfect flat water lagoon and ocean
+ Barra Grande has a small and cozy, laid-back vibe with some nice restaurants

  • Lagoon & ocean kiting

  • Accommodation right at the spot (Barra Grande and Macapà)

  • Best time to go: July – December
     

Macapa only has a few pousadas (but is constantly evolving) which is why we usually prefer to stay in Barra Grande
– Barra Grande with the high tide is super choppy (so we would go to Macapà with the high tide)
– Macapa lagoon is tide-dependent (but you can always kite in the ocean).
